While the rest of the UK is slowly crawling out of their thermal undies after the recent cold snap, Mumford & Sons are showing the world down under what they’re made of while playing sold out festivals across Australia. If you’ve managed to get your thawing hands on any of the sold out tickets for their upcoming shows across the US, Canada, Ireland or the UK then you’re in for a real treat!
Mumford & Sons are an English folk rock band and a very talented bunch of four, Marcus Mumford, Country Winston, Ben Lovett, and Ted Dwane. By their own admission they have always shared a common purpose: to make music that matters, without taking themselves too seriously. Since forming in December 2007 they have endeavored to create a sound that is unique to them and it seems they haven’t looked back since.
2008 saw them touring extensively around the UK with a quick pit stop at Glastonbury en-route to a sell out London gig which only cemented rave reviews from an already steady gathering (there’s always one act I end up kicking myself that I can’t make at Glasto… Mumford and Sons were my 2008 kick in the rear).
In 2009 Mumford and Sons wound up on the BBC Sound of 2009 Poll shortlist. Match that with their London ICA show selling out in 24 hours, and the October release of their debut album “Sigh No More” and you have a band who continue to go from strength to strength with each sold out venue they play. If you haven’t managed to score yourself a ticket then head over to their myspace page http://www.myspace.com/mumfordandsons to have a listen and keep checking their website http://www.mumfordandsons.com/ for updates on where they’re at next. Fingers crossed they make a pit stop at Glastonbury this year so I don’t have to endure another year of kicking myself!!!
Happy listening
Sam x
