Man, I Love Asher Roth... by Korein Browne

Street teaming gets you places you've never been.. And probably wouldn't go otherwise..

This time it took me to Scala, a little bar/club in Kings Cross.. [Somewhere I would never have gone..] To see Asher Roth.. [Someone I would have never had seen..]

OMFG!

Asher Roth is actual amazement..!
He's just brilliant.. *sigh*
Wonderful..

If you haven't heard of him yet, then take a look at his song..
I Love College

I'm starting to believe that he is my new crush..

He grabbed my hand and we had a moment.. While he was On Stage..
[Actually this happened multiple times.. Whilst he was On Stage..]
He pulled me onstage.. On Stage.. [Ahh!]
I danced with him.. On Stage..
I met him outside afterwards..
And he said that he noticed me, when he was On Stage..

After telling him that I was on his street team.. He thanked me..
He said that I was the only reason that he's over here, and without my help it wouldn't be possible..
Obviously he meant all of his street teamers, but I felt that I was representing..
And it made me feel a little special.. And can't a girl feel special for once..?

The gig was so live.. It was LIVE!

Oh wow, am I not extremely electric at the moment..
And I'm feeling very giddy.. [Yes, it's a world.. Google it..]

I'm really buzzing at the moment.. Do you feel it..?

I'm feeling electric.. Very electric indeed..

I really don't think this is the last you've heard of Asher Roth..
Especially if I have anything to do with it..

Erik Hassle. Birmingham/O2 Academy 3/18th August

by Tom Fazakerley

I rolled up to the Academy at 6.00 as stated and phoned James the tour manager, there was no answer at first but after the sound check he came outside and invited me into Academy 3.

We had a little chat about music, then after some mega tummy rumbling he decided to treat us both to a McDonalds, then we prepared for the arrival of the public...

I got to meet Erik Hassle after the gig and he seemed a really genuine guy, again had a little music chat and let him know how much I enjoyed the gig and couldn’t actually wait for the album.

(I can’t recall the name but song number 3 of the set SHOULD be really big, it could easily become a modern day anthem and fit straight in there amongst the likes of Mr Brightside etc. If it doesn’t....it is a crime!!!)

At the show me and my teaming partner sat at the back of the venue taking notes about the band and the Warm up acts. There was only maybe 30 people at the gig in total, and most of them were friends of Abi Lanigan the first act, who was fantastic....a really strong voice from such a little person. A mix of Imogen Heap, Florence of the machine and Dolores O'Riordan (ex lead singer of the Cranberries).

The second act was a guy called Dan Whitehouse who was a local ‘Brummie dude’ who was a chilled out, well thought out acoustic act with sounds of Snow Patrol front man Gary Lightbody.

Dan covered ‘Message in a box’ and did it proud...one of my favourite songs ever!!

Then Erik Hassle came on and pretty much blew the intimate sized crowd away. Everyone there thoroughly enjoyed it. If he doesn’t break through and make it....i really don’t know what’s wrong with the music industry today. Really glad to have court him at such an early stage in his career at this really intimate venue!

Delphic.

Where have you been lately? If you haven’t heard of Delphic?!

They’ve been causing stir since releasing their first Single, Counterpart (a seven minute long blend of minimal techno and “guitar” music) back in April this year and will be following this up with the release of their second single Momentary (on Polydor) at the end of this month.

Talking recently to Clash Magazine the Manchester born three-piece said themselves; “We see it as our job to put dance music back on the map. We want to make music for massive warehouse parties.” And that’s exactly what I want to listen to! Check out their latest video for the single Momentary itself:

With a LOAD of dates booked in to push this, including; supporting Orbital in September, headlining French label, Kitsun Maison’s UK tour in October as well as supporting none other than Bloc Party in November, the guys set on the path of a meteoric rise to super stardom. And why not throw support slots for Friendly Fires on 3rd September in St. Albans and for La Roux at her Scala show in London on 10th.

CATCH them before everybody else does!
