ALPHABEAT!

Lots of fantastic news from the Danish pop band sensation Alphabeat!

Once defined by PopJustice as “Madonna meets Shannon with Black Box keyboards and a sped-up 90's Scandipop backbeat”, Alphabeat formed in 2002 but released their first single “Fascination” in 2007. Their second single “10,000 nights” reached an amazing number 2 at the UK single charts.

After playing a COMPLETELY sold-out tour in the UK in 2008 (and more than 160 gig in a year), the band has signed a contract with Polydor. What else, Alphabeat has now been asked by Lady Gaga to join her 2010 tour across the UK & Ireland! Such an exciting step up for the band and definitely a show not to miss out!

Their newest single “the Spell” has been released last month and it’s already proving a big success, with lots of badass mash-ups currently being recorded. Keep checking this space for more updates!

What else, the newest album “the Spell” is due to be released in March 2010. We can’t wait to hear it, sounds very promising. In the meantime, check out this remix of “the Spell” by the Magistrates http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=batch_download&batch_id=Z01QMWZKMGtoeVpFQlE9PQ

Graffiti 6

Graffiti 6 is a collaboration between Jamie Scott and Tommy D. Both successful in their own rights, in early summer 2008 Jamie went to Tommys studio and they soon realised that mixing their sounds and styles together could create something new and exciting they both loved working on.

Jamie has previously toured with Alicia Keys, whilst Tommy has worked with the likes of Kanye West and Michael and Janet Jackson. Their song "Stare in to the Sun" was used by The Sun newspaper in their summer advert, so you may not yet realise that you have heard of Graffiti 6, but with talent and a sound like this, soon everyone will know them.

Check out Graffiti 6 at their Myspace page www.myspace.com/graffiti6.

Hadouken!

Last week we announced that Traffic were lucky enough to be teaming for Hadouken! Fresh off the back of their new release the "M.A.D" E.P Hadouken! are about to bring their music to the people.

The tour is proving popular amongst teamer's, but we still have a few dates left. Kicking off at London's newest night club Matter on the 13th, Hadouken will be bringing their unusual sound and style to a venue near you.

The bands unusual name comes from a special throwing fireball attack from the video game "Street Fighter". Having previously appeared on the same bill as Crystal Castles and Does It Offend You Yeah?, Hadouken! have been described by Drowned In Sound as "Seem(ing) to have more to say, possessing some easy-on-the-ear hip hop phrasing and rapid light beats". Good news for you and good news for us!

If you're interested in teaming at one of the Hadouken! gigs check out the dates and venues they are covering on traffics fan page then email your chosen date and contact details to info@trafficmarketing.co.uk

Traffic were lucky enough to team for Mumford and Sons on their recent U.K. tour and we are pleased to hear, following the release of their debut album “Sigh No More”, their track “Winter Winds” has been selected as one of four potential Record of the Week on Radio 2’s Radcliffe and Maconie show. The winner gets their song played every day the following week.

Vote “Winter Winds” as Record of the Week - polls opens tomorrow, so get voting!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/the-radcliffe-and-maconie-show/pick-and-mix/

Thats not all Mumford and Sons have been up to. From November 2nd NME started publishing a weekly chart countdown compiled by the Official Charts Company. The NME Chart will appear across all of the NME platforms reaching an estimated 1.1m people a week!
The Chart will be a top 40 based on both physical and download sales of tracks that feature on the NME Radio play list. Mumford and Sons track “Little Lion Man” went in straight at Number 10, which is great news. A big well done from everyone at Traffic!

Hadouken!

Grindie band Hadouken! are back! The band’s unusual name comes from a special move - a throwing fireball attack called “the Hadouken” (surge fist) – in the video game “Street Fighter” . Having previously appeared in the same bill as Crystal Castles and Does It Offend You Yeah? Hadouken!, “Seem to have more to say though, possessing some easy-on-the-ear hip-hop phrasing and rapid light beats” (Drowned In Sound), which is why we are pleased to be part of their upcoming UK tour.

With the release of their M.A.D E.P out now including new tracks “Something Very Bad” and “Ugly” as well as some remixes of “M.A.D” by their favourite producers, there are going to be prove popular so be quick! After all Mike Skinner gave them their first play!

The old boys are back in town...

So got some rather good news, hope you agree : )

Wolfmother are back in the country, only for a one off London show though. Witness the performance of tracks from their latest (2nd) album 'Cosmic Egg' at The Coronet (Elephant and Castle) on October 21st.

FOLLOW US on Facebook to find out more... Or you can go directly the facebook event page.

The Twang...

Although they formed way back in 2001, it wasn't until back in 2007 with the release of debut album Love It When I Feel Like This, with singles such as Wide Awake and Either Way, that the band finally hit the recognition they had been gathering throughout their home town of Birmingham.

Although they fell off the radar for a while, the Twang returned this year with easily their best material to date in the form of new album Jewellery Quarter, which no doubt means another sold out run of shows.

If you would like to street team at any of these events and get free tickets for your troubles. Get in touch!

And finally The King Blues kick off this year's Autumn tour on 1st October.

If you haven't heard of them before he's what their label Island says of them: "Right from the get-go The King Blues’ music has defied convention. Unafraid to mix up dub bass lines, doo-wop a cappella songs, ska rhythms, Lonnie Donegan-styled skiffle, British folk and gritty poetry, theirs is a stripped-down, hot-wired one where ukuleles, acoustic guitars and melodicas feature heavily. It is punk music as it was intended – engaging, forward-thinking, all-encompassing."

NEW boys in town!

Ed's ones to watch...

Bombay Bicycle Club.

Bombay Bicycle Club release their astonishing debut album I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose (recorded by Jim Abbiss), a beautifully literate and ambitious debut. From the dizzying My Bloody Valentine/M83 swoops and morning-after ruefulness of the LP’s opening song to the open-tuned, Appalachian folk feel of the record’s closing track, the album thrums with subtle invention and quiet emotional intensity. Fans of Bloc Party, Broken Social Scene and Bon Iver - or any mildly sensitive soul with a fondness for ricocheting guitar chords will be utterly beguiled. Indie rock rarely gets to enjoy its innocence these days, but Bombay Bicycle Club know that’s exactly what makes it precious. Simply love them!

First caught them at Offset and I'm now officially hooked! Can't wait to see them again live very very soon!!

Man, I Love Asher Roth... by Korein Browne

Street teaming gets you places you've never been.. And probably wouldn't go otherwise..

This time it took me to Scala, a little bar/club in Kings Cross.. [Somewhere I would never have gone..] To see Asher Roth.. [Someone I would have never had seen..]

OMFG!

Asher Roth is actual amazement..!
He's just brilliant.. *sigh*
Wonderful..

If you haven't heard of him yet, then take a look at his song..
I Love College

I'm starting to believe that he is my new crush..

He grabbed my hand and we had a moment.. While he was On Stage..
[Actually this happened multiple times.. Whilst he was On Stage..]
He pulled me onstage.. On Stage.. [Ahh!]
I danced with him.. On Stage..
I met him outside afterwards..
And he said that he noticed me, when he was On Stage..

After telling him that I was on his street team.. He thanked me..
He said that I was the only reason that he's over here, and without my help it wouldn't be possible..
Obviously he meant all of his street teamers, but I felt that I was representing..
And it made me feel a little special.. And can't a girl feel special for once..?

The gig was so live.. It was LIVE!

Oh wow, am I not extremely electric at the moment..
And I'm feeling very giddy.. [Yes, it's a world.. Google it..]

I'm really buzzing at the moment.. Do you feel it..?

I'm feeling electric.. Very electric indeed..

I really don't think this is the last you've heard of Asher Roth..
Especially if I have anything to do with it..

Erik Hassle. Birmingham/O2 Academy 3/18th August

by Tom Fazakerley

I rolled up to the Academy at 6.00 as stated and phoned James the tour manager, there was no answer at first but after the sound check he came outside and invited me into Academy 3.

We had a little chat about music, then after some mega tummy rumbling he decided to treat us both to a McDonalds, then we prepared for the arrival of the public...

I got to meet Erik Hassle after the gig and he seemed a really genuine guy, again had a little music chat and let him know how much I enjoyed the gig and couldn’t actually wait for the album.

(I can’t recall the name but song number 3 of the set SHOULD be really big, it could easily become a modern day anthem and fit straight in there amongst the likes of Mr Brightside etc. If it doesn’t....it is a crime!!!)

At the show me and my teaming partner sat at the back of the venue taking notes about the band and the Warm up acts. There was only maybe 30 people at the gig in total, and most of them were friends of Abi Lanigan the first act, who was fantastic....a really strong voice from such a little person. A mix of Imogen Heap, Florence of the machine and Dolores O'Riordan (ex lead singer of the Cranberries).

The second act was a guy called Dan Whitehouse who was a local ‘Brummie dude’ who was a chilled out, well thought out acoustic act with sounds of Snow Patrol front man Gary Lightbody.

Dan covered ‘Message in a box’ and did it proud...one of my favourite songs ever!!

Then Erik Hassle came on and pretty much blew the intimate sized crowd away. Everyone there thoroughly enjoyed it. If he doesn’t break through and make it....i really don’t know what’s wrong with the music industry today. Really glad to have court him at such an early stage in his career at this really intimate venue!

Delphic.

Where have you been lately? If you haven’t heard of Delphic?!

They’ve been causing stir since releasing their first Single, Counterpart (a seven minute long blend of minimal techno and “guitar” music) back in April this year and will be following this up with the release of their second single Momentary (on Polydor) at the end of this month.

Talking recently to Clash Magazine the Manchester born three-piece said themselves; “We see it as our job to put dance music back on the map. We want to make music for massive warehouse parties.” And that’s exactly what I want to listen to! Check out their latest video for the single Momentary itself:

With a LOAD of dates booked in to push this, including; supporting Orbital in September, headlining French label, Kitsun Maison’s UK tour in October as well as supporting none other than Bloc Party in November, the guys set on the path of a meteoric rise to super stardom. And why not throw support slots for Friendly Fires on 3rd September in St. Albans and for La Roux at her Scala show in London on 10th.

Traces of his love of Bowie, The Beatles and Pink Floyd ripple across the record, but what strikes you above all is the immediacy and elegance of Peter’s songwriting.

Detriot Social Club

Having kicked of their UK Tour back in March, Detroit Social Club are going to hitting a venue near you at some point between now and June. Accompanied by Twisted Wheel, the Newcastle based band will be bringing their anarchic groove-based evolution of 1970s New York punk, 80s post-rock and 90s Detroit garage to cities including Leeds, Manchester, Bristol, Glasgow and Carlisle throughout April and May.

Checkout their myspace blog to find out about the highlights of the tour so far, including Voodoo Masks, broken 1930's lifts and a stint of American Football!!

Tickets: www.seetickets.com / www.crowdsurge.com/detroitsocialclub / 0871 220260

www.detroitsocialclub.net

Detroit Social Club returned to the studio in early 2009 and the fruits of those sessions can be heard with their recent release of Sunshine People and its sister track Cause And Consequence (the term b-side does not apply). Further listening comes in the form of another new track, Forever Wonderland – Live, available free from the band’s website. Their debut album is currently being recorded.

Hockey

Hockey the indie-dance band from Portland Oregon may claim in their single “Too Fake” that “Everybody's watching, oh but nobody cares” but clearly the case is everyone is listening and everybody cares! Here at Traffic we hardly ever have them off our playlists.

Fresh from playing at SXSW Hockey are currently preparing for a busy few months. Not only are Hockey appearing in a very exciting line up at The Camden Crawl but also going on tour with Friendly Fires – which establishes them as definitely ones to watch.

Hockey have not only been kind enough to put new remixed album versions of “Too Fake”, “3am Spanish” and “Work” on their myspace page but also a little treat in lesser known song “Learn To Lose” Check them out on their myspace player by following the link http://www.myspace.com/hockey

Oh, and for all of you, who like me, like getting something for little effort sign up to their mailing list at htp://www.hockeyband.co.uk/ and you will receive a free mp3 of “3am Spanish”!
